Tell Governor Bentley to Reopen Alabama's DMVs

Alabama— the birthplace of the Voting Rights Movement, the state where Bloody Sunday took place, and people died for their right to vote— is once again making it hard for people to vote.

Just last year, Alabama passed a strict voter ID law. Now, the state is making it almost impossible for people to get the necessary identification to vote.

Last month it was announced that 31 of the state’s DMVs will be permanently closed, many in counties with the highest proportion of black residents. DMVs will close in every county in which African Americans make up over 75% of the registered voters.

After much backlash, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is considering a plan to reopen the 31 DMVs.

We need to protect the voting rights of all eligible Americans, but we need your help to do it.
